Scott Marvel Cassidy has worked as a nonfiction writer and filmmaker, and now works mainly with painting, drawing, and sculpture. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cassidy received his certificate of completion from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to work on the Henry Darger film In the Realm of the Unreal (2004) directed by Jessica Yu, whom he met at MacDowell. Cassidy went on to work for artists like Paul McCarthy and Jim Shaw. His work has been shown in solo exhibitions since 1994, including “Levitate The White House" at the Los Angeles Museum of Art (2016); “Angels and Skeletons Eat Ghosts” at Me.di.um Gallery St. Barthelemy (2008); and “New Work” Schmidt Dean Gallery, Philadelphia. His group exhibitions include “Bad Boys Bail Bonds Adopt A Highway” at Team Gallery, New York (2015), and “Good Intentions” at Subliminal Gallery, Los Angeles (2013), among many others. His work is in the collections of Thomas Jefferson Bank and Merck Pharmaceuticals.
