Sculptor Seong Chun was born in Seoul, Korea in 1966 and currently lives and works in New York. She studied at the Tyler School of Art in Rome before earning a B.A. from the University of California San Diego in 1988 and an M.A. from New York University in 1992. Chun’s sculptures, some of which are constructed out of crocheted paper and paperboard, have been exhibited internationally across China, Korea, and New York.

Chun is the recipient of residencies at Dorland Mountain Artist’s Colony, Djerassi Resident Artist’s Program, and MacDowell. She was an Adjunct Professor at Parsons School of Design in New York from 1999-2002.

Heinz

Seong Chun worked in the Heinz studio.

The icehouse, built of fieldstone in 1914–1915, was a practical part of Marian MacDowell’s plan for a self-sufficient farm.
