Serena J. Fox is an intensive care physician and consultant in medical ethics and human rights. The Bellevue Hospital ER in NYC and trauma units in DC inspired the poems in her book, Night Shift. She believes deeply that poetry has an essential role in the teaching of care giving. She is the poetry editor of The Examined Life Journal, sponsored by the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.

Chapman

Serena Fox worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
