Shane Book is a Canadian poet and filmmaker. He was educated at the University of Victoria, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and Stanford University where he was a Wallace Stegner Fellow. His writing has appeared in more than 20 anthologies, including The Great Black North: Contemporary African Canadian Poetry. He was a shortlisted nominee for the 2015 Griffin Poetry Prize for his second collection, Congotronic. Of Trinidadian descent, Book is based in Ottawa. His first poetry collection, Ceiling of Sticks, was published in 2010, and he was a finalist for the CBC Literary Awards in 2011 for "Almost Spain."

Phi Beta

Shane Book worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
