Shobun Baile is a filmmaker and artist. He studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, holds a M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University, and was a 2023-2024 Studio Fellow in the Whitney Independent Study Program. He currently teaches at New York University.

Recent exhibitions and screenings include ones at Weird Economies, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Para Site in Hong Kong, New York Film Festival, Kasseler Dokfest, Salzburger Kunstverein, Kasseler Dokfest, Fotofest Biennial, Decolonial Hacker, European Media Art Festival, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He has received residencies and fellowships from the Core Program at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Muzeum Susch in Switzerland, Storm King Art Center in New York, the Whitney Independent Study Program, and SOMA in Mexico City.

At MacDowell, he developed and wrote a screenplay for a new feature length film.

Phi Beta

Shobun Baile worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
