Sonia E Barrett performs furniture. Her process appropriates mostly with 18th century wooden furniture and its many reiterations. Barrett uses furniture to consider the objectification of people and plants. Sculpture, installations, video works, and works on paper result from her investigations. Barrett's work has been included in the Santorini Biennale and shown at the Neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst in Berlin, and the Orange County Center For Contemporary Art in Santa Ana, CA. She was selected by the Institutue of International Visual Arts in London and Tate Liverpool to complete the Keywords project in 2013.
