Steven Gilbert is an abstract painter who works with pastels that are blended with acrylic paint. His pieces are influenced by impressions of nature. He holds a B.A from the New School for Social Research and a M.A from the School of Education at New York University. He is an adjunct professor of abstract painting and mixed media at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

He has had several shows at galleries including: Prince Street Gallery, Westerley Gallery, Loeb Center Gallery, Max Hutchinson Gallery Bob Tomlinson Gallery and Capricorn Gallery. His work has also been shown internationally in Germany and France.
