Susan Yankowitz collaborated with Kamala Sankaram on an opera-music/theatre drama about Mukhtar Mai, the first woman in Pakistan to win a conviction against the men who raped her. She also completed a large theatrical piece with puppets and other media.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
