Susana Ferreira is a freelance journalist, writer, producer, and educator who was raised by Toronto's West End, within the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. She was a contributing editor for The Believer and has worked as an international correspondent.
Susana spent her time at MacDowell in 2020 and 2022 working on her first book, a work of deeply reported creative nonfiction.

MacDowell and friends originally named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the
nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his
life.
With
generous support from the Garland family, the studio was renovated in
2013 and renamed the Peter and Mary Garland Studio. The inward
opening, diamond-pane windows were replaced…
