Sylvia’s first screenwriting effort, the coming of age and coming out drama All Over Me had its world premiere in dramatic competition at The Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the Teddy Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival for Best Feature Film. Sylvia wrote the middle segment for the HBO original movie If These Walls Could Talk 2 – 1972. The HBO movie was nominated for four Emmy Awards and won a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Television Movie. Sylvia co-produced #Horror released by IFC Midnight and has written commissioned scripts for a variety of directors, actors, and producers including Susan Sarandon, Chloe Sevigny, Michelle Williams, Elain Goldsmith Thomas, Natasha Lyonne and Ellen DeGeneres. In March 2020, Sylvia was awarded a grant from the NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music, and Theatre for a web series she is writing and directing called The Janes.
