Tennessee Jones is a Brooklyn-based writer from southern Appalachia. He is the author of the Lambda Award-nominated collection Deliver Me From Nowhere. His current novel-in-progress was named a finalist for the 2019 Creative Capital Award in Fiction, and has received residency support from MacDowell, The Fine Arts Work Center, Lambda Literary Foundation, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and Phillips Exeter Academy.

In residence in 2021, he continued work on a novel-in-progress titled What Ghost is Gone. The novel is an exploration of intergenerational trauma and transgender experience in southern Appalachia. The work was named a finalist for the 2019 Creative Capital Award in Fiction.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
