Tom Gregg is a painter specializing in still life. Gregg’s interest in still life painting stems from a fascination with objects and the way they share the world of people while remaining independent of our struggles and exertions. To Gregg, objects are a bit like actors on a stage in a visual drama providing him with a wide range of formal elements to explore and the unique ability to exert control over the scenes.
Gregg received his B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and went on to earn his M.F.A. from Yale University. He has spent time in artist’s residencies including the MacDowell in Peterborough, New Hampshire and the Yaddo Colony in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Gregg has exhibited his work extensively throughout the United States, particularly New York and Los Angeles, and he is in numerous public and private collections including the Nerman Museum of Art, the Pfizer Corporation, and the Harvard Business School. He has also received several awards and grants including an M-AAA/NEAVisual Arts Fellowship Award and a Charlotte Street Fund Award.
