Victor Schrager has devoted himself to still life photography for more than 30 years. When he began, the genre was seen as peripheral, but Schrager wanted to restore its relevance and he was quickly successful. He was included in the Whitney Biennial’s first photography section, in 1981, and he has since exhibited throughout the world and published several books. Schrager lives and works in New York. Educated at Harvard, he has been a recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, MacDowell, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art New York; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of Art, New York; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Victor Schrager worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
