Vivien Abrams Collens is an abstract artist, working in sculpture, prints, painting, and large installations. Much of her work is inspired by urban environments and three-dimensional designs. Over the course of her career, Abrams Collens has taught at many schools and universities, and has received fellowships from MacDowell, Yaddo, and others.

New Hampshire Studio, originally named Peterborough Studio, was given to MacDowell by Mr. and Mrs. William Schofield, Mrs. H. A. Chamberlain, Mrs. Andrew Draper, and Miss Ruth Cheney.
