Walter Schneir (1927–2009) was an American author. A graduate from Syracuse University, he wrote extensively on Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. His writing has appeared in The Nation, The Reporter, Liberation, Ramparts, and The New York Times Magazine. His books include Invitation to an Inquest: A New Look at the Rosenberg-Sobell Case (with Miriam Schneir), Telling It Like It Was: The Chicago Riots, and Final Verdict: What Really Happened in the Rosenberg Case (posthumous; edited By Miriam Schneir, his wife and colleague.
