Born July 20, 1933, Warren Slesinger currently resides on the South Carolina coast and teaches poetry, fiction and nature writing at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort. In 1985, he founded The Bench Press, a publisher of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction works. He has been a finalist in the Lamont Poetry Contest and was awarded the South Carolina Poetry Fellowship in 2002. His publications include Warren Slesinger Greatest Hits, With Some Justification, Poems for a Beach House, Poems for the Mountains, A Word For It, and Spreading the Word: Editors on Poetry.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
