Yxta Maya Murray is a law professor, art critic, playwright, and the author of six novels. In 2018, she received an Art Writer's Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation in connection with Creative Capital. In 2019, Murray published a one-act play about the Christine Blasey Ford hearings, titled Advice and Consent (LARB Books 2019). She was also named a finalist for the National Magazine Awards in Fiction and was in residency at UCross in Wyoming in the Spring.
Her seventh novel, Art Is Everything, is forthcoming from Curbstone/Northwestern University Press. Her collection of short fiction, Americas, is in process at University of Nevada Press. She writes art criticism for Artforum, ARTnews, ARtillery, the Contemporary Art Review of Los Angeles, and other magazines. Her recent fiction is out or forthcoming from Ploughshares, the Georgia Review, Conjunctions, the Santa Monica Review, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Contra Viento, Goliad, and other magazines. She won a Whiting Writer's Award in 1999, and has taught at Loyola Law School since 1996.
