Zahir Janmohamed wrote a memoir about witnessing the 2002 Gujarat riots. He has received fellowships from the Norman Mailer Writers' Colony and the San Francisco Writers' Grotto. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Foreign Policy, Boston Review, The Nation, and The Guardian. He previously worked as a senior foreign policy aide in the US Congress and as the advocacy director for Amnesty International.
