2024 MacDowell Fellows Reunion

November 3, 2024

MacDowell and the Fellows Engagement Committee welcomed a hundred Fellows to the Mercury Store in Brooklyn for our annual Fellows Reunion—a festive evening of conversation, food and drink, sharing stories, games and activities, dancing, and more.

This year's reunion featured karaoke, a book swap, and our signature raffle of Fellows' works and creative gifts. We served wine, batch cocktails courtesy of Good Vodka, beer courtesy of Gay Beer, Korean rice wine courtesy of Hana Makgeolli, craft hard seltzer courtesy of Lunar Seltzer, and a grazing table of gourmet bites and desserts.

Commissioned by the Fellows Engagement Committee, artist and Fellow Becky Brown (18) created an original, hand-painted graphic for the group. The work, an adaptation of Brown's 2018 painting "Search," portrays the ethos of the FEC and the ideas and passions that guide its mission. Brown explains: “Search” presents words in drippy, wormy search bars, reflecting the increasing complexity of what we search the internet for – love, truth, etc. – and wondering how likely we are to find answers. To announce and celebrate MacDowell’s Fellows Reunion and the work of the Fellows Engagement Committee, I have adapted “Search” to include words and ideas that arose during a recent FEC brainstorming session. The new composition conveys fellows’ core needs and values, in hopes that they can be sought, and found, at MacDowell and beyond.
