The 2024 MacDowell Presents season began on April 30 when we hosted On America: Nell Irvin Painter on I Just Keep Talking with Doreen St. Félix at the Center for Fiction. On June 3, MacDowell welcomed to our Chelsea Galleries in NYC newsroom thought leaders Jane Ferguson (PBS Newshour) and Zahra Nader (Zan Times) in conversation with Xanthe Scharff, cofounder of the Fuller Project. Ferguson, Nader, and Scharff—three journalists at the top of their craft— who shared poignant insights from their experiences in the field and discussed the unique and evolving challenges facing women reporters and the coverage of women peacekeepers in conflict zones. Then, on September 15, MacDowell was honored to take part in Keene Pride, the Monadnock region's largest celebration of the local LGBTQ+ community. In October, we presented Coming of Age in a Disorienting World in close partnership with Metrograph. Featuring animated films curated by MacDowell Fellow Yao Xiao (24) over two weekends.
