J.T. Rogers, Rebecca Taichman, and Mimi Lien picked up individual Tony Awards on June 11. These were among 10 awards handed out to plays and musicals related to MacDowell Fellows. A total of eight plays by Fellows collectively earned 54 Tony nominations! Rogers won Best Play for his work Oslo, which also picked up a Best Actor in a Featured Role award. Indecent, written by Paula Vogel while at MacDowell won Best Direction of a Play for Rebecca Taichman and Best Lighting Design. Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, with book and music by Dave Malloy, won two Tonys, including Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Mimi Lien and Best Lighting Design. Hello, Dolly, based on the Thornton Wilder short story “The Merchant of Yonkers” earned four Tony Awards.

Work of Twelve Fellows Nominated for Tony Awards
We are celebrating a torrent of Tony Award nominations for Fellow work! Eight plays representing the work of 12 MacDowell Fellows are in the running for statuettes at the 71st Annual Tony Awards. That’s 54 Tony Award nominations in total! Here are the shows and the number of Tony nominations for each:
