James Baldwin Fellowship
Established in 2019
These Fellowships honor three-time MacDowell Fellow James Baldwin and his influence on the American consciousness through his writings on racial justice and social inequality by providing artists of today time and space to create work that celebrates and furthers Baldwin’s legacy as an activist and artist. The Fellowship supports writers.
Current and past supporters of these Fellowships include the Hearst Foundation, Amazon Literary Partnership, Bank of America, Agnes Gund, and Musa and Tom Mayer.
