Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
A small dormer once pierced the east slope of the roof, but after damage suffered in the 1938 hurricane, the roof was rebuilt without the dormer. The interior is finished with handsome, natural pine paneling. A fireplace with a corbelled brick mantel is located on the west wall, marked outside by a redbrick chimney.
When renovated in 2003, a drop ceiling was removed and a tiny half bath was replaced by a bathroom with a shower, allowing the studio to be a 'live-in' and assigned without a dormitory room in Pans, Eaves, or The Lodge. Situated within a short walk of The James Baldwin Library, Monday Music remains a favorite studio of writers and composers alike.
